GConf-Editor

GConf-Editor is a tool used for editing the GConf configuration database. This is not the recommended way of setting desktop preferences, but it might be useful when the proper configuration utility for some software provides no way of changing some option.

The root motivation for GConf is to make application preferences more manageable for system administrators. Another important motivation for GConf is that it's "process transparent." This means that if I change a setting from one application, it instantly updates in all other applications that are interested in that setting
